The Mission

The Scar Soldier network was created to inspire as well as create awareness for chronic illness and mental illness alike, by myself Tyler Blanton AKA The Scar Soldier. I have had severe Crohns disease since the age of nine (leading to 3 surgeries, relearning to walk, and pain pill dependence) leaving a trail of insecurities and PTSD. In the muddled mess of suffering, it was easy to forget the strength I once carried. This I found, was a common problem, one rarely addressed…and that needs to change. I begin sharing my story hoping to reach one person, reminding them at that pivotal time, “Choose to make this your strength, not your weakness. Grow from this opportunity.” In doing such multiple people have come forward with life changing stories: A teen girl I know pushed herself to relearn to walk when doctors told her to become comfortable in a wheelchair, a man that was ready to end his life is now thriving with a girlfriend and fulltime work, a young man that was dealing with tremendous fatigue and loss on a daily basis, now works out and eats daily as well as leads most social circles that he is a part of. This is a few of many, many stories of hope and strength at a time when so many fall weak. So, what is the Scar Soldier Army? It is the family of wolves that looked death in the face and said “no”. We are the ones that persevere when those around you would normally quit. We are the ones that soldier on, no matter the obstacle.
